“CKCians: Promote Unity, Camaraderie and Teamwork through Sports”. This timely theme ignites the atmosphere as Christ the King College celebrates the opening of the sports festival on September 5, 2017 at CKC school campus. The activity started with a paraliturgy at 7:00AM which was facilitated by the campus ministry in-charge, S. Ma. Ethyl Sorino, RVM which was followed by street parade with the grade school and high school Drum and Lyre Corps together with the police marshals, medical team, CKC faculty and staff, pupils and students from grade school to college.
With the intense heat of the sun, students, players, visitors, faculty and staff gathered together at CKC quadrangle for the opening ceremony. The presentation of delegates & delegation heads were introduced by Ms. Shirley Omahoy for the Integrated Basic Education and Mr. Jaffy Glenn Guillena for the College and acknowledged with resounding cheers and chants from their members. Guillano, RVM. Student players are excited and agitated ready to conquer and create another sport’s history
The most awaited event for the first day of a week-long sports fest was the Cheerdance competition by both High School and College Department. The competition will never be complete without the presence of the board of judges: Mr. Arvin Ambal, Ms. Evelyn Dago, and Mrs. Maricel Jimenez, the chairman of the board.
The impressive moves and extreme stunts were seen in every team. For the college department, the presentation followed, respectively: Chimera Maroons (Accountancy Program), Blue Phoenix (Teacher Education Program), Purple Jaguars (Criminology Dept.), Green Raptors (Social Work & IT Dept.), and last but not the least the Golden Tigers (BSBA Department). The one declared as the champion for this year’s cheerdance competition was the Green Raptors.
Sports events started in the afternoon in the same day and ended in the afternoon of September 9, 2017. It lasted for 4 days where all teams were able to conquest other teams as the system called round robin.
The front-runners of this year’s Intramurals 2017 were as follows:
1st Chimera Maroons, 2nd Red Stallions, 3rd Purple Jaguars, 4th Blue Phoenix, 5th Golden Tigers, and 6th Green Raptors.
Through the collaborative efforts of everybody, Intramurals 2017 has served its purpose. It developed students’ “manlike-attitude” in dealing with others as they manifested team work, unity and camaraderie among members of the community.
