August 27, 2014 at 7:00 in the evening, with all the lights off and students in action, the College students, teachers, faculty and staff of Christ the King College actively participated and experienced the Fire and Earthquake Drill which was done during night classes.
It is the first times to set-off the drill during night time were awareness and preparedness is being assessed if the emergency situation happens during night time. Students and personnel bear with them the flashlight or penlight which they used in the said drill. The Emergency and Disaster Control Management Coordinating Team were also identified and tasks were distributed among team members.
Prior to the drill, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council of Gingoog City (CDRRMC-GC) headed by Mr. Marlon Pajo rendered a School-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Seminar.
With the presence of evaluators coming from different agencies were also in attendance, namely: Red Cross Team of Gingoog City (RC-GC), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) of Gingoog City.
The drill was done successfully and marks the preparedness of CKCians in battling the thief of all disasters, Fire and Earthquake. As what Mr. Marlon Pajo said, “Safety is everybody’s concern”.
