The Nursing Program of Christ the King College held its 14th Cap and Badge Investiture Ceremony and Candlelight Rite on August 6, 2024, at the Mother Ignacia del Espรญritu Santo Gymnasium, honoring Batch Seraphim, Class of 2028, with the theme: โ€œCapped and Badged with Pride, Fueled by Purpose.โ€
The event began with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Joel Barcelona. Ms. Renaquil M. Baloria, RN, officially opened the ceremony, followed by a warm welcome address from Sr. Ma. Anecita C. Navaja, RVM. The guest speaker, Dr. Lharra Mae C. Postrano, then shared an inspiring and heartfelt message with the nursing candidates.
The program proceeded with Mrs. Daisy D. Nabor, RM, RN, MAN-NSA (CAR), who presented the symbolic significance of the cap, badge, and lamp. This was followed by the solemn entrance of the โ€œMother of Modern Nursing,โ€ personified by Ms. Crystal B. Abarrientos, RN. She graced the floor and lit the โ€œMother Lamp,โ€ symbolizing the light that every nurse carries. Mr. Victorio Boja III, RN, formally presented the candidates: 23 males and 96 females were capped, badged, and received their candlelight, totaling 119 second-year nursing studentsโ€”a testament to the ever-growing and ever-burning flame of the Nursing Program.
To officially seal their path as student nurses, the Nightingale Pledge was led by Ms. Jensen Muriel O. Neri, marking their commitment to a life of service. This was followed by Mr. Adriane Jeco O. Desoy, who led the Nursesโ€™ Prayerโ€”an invocation of strength and compassion as they take a further step into the reality of their chosen profession.
The ceremony reached a touching moment as student nurses offered roses to their parents while โ€œPangarap Kong Pangarap Moโ€ by Zephanie Dimaranan played, drawing tears and smiles from the crowd. This tribute was followed by their dedication song, โ€œTogether We Flyโ€ by the TNT Boys, an uplifting number that echoed their unity and dreams as they begin their journey as student nurses.
With deep gratitude, the program extends thanks to Dr. Norma E. Simborio, the Program Dean; Mrs. Merle R. Hurtado, RM, RN, MN, the RLE Coordinator; and the rest of the nursing faculty, PNSA Officers, General Assembly, and students who helped make the event truly significant and memorable for Batch Seraphim.
