As another chapter of their academic journey unfolds, fourth-year students of Christ the King College prepare to take their learning beyond familiar classrooms and into the realities of their chosen professions.
The classroom has been their training ground, their professors, their guides, and their years of study the foundation upon which they have built their aspirations. Now, the time has come to take another step, not toward another semester, but toward the professional world awaiting them.
On November 6, 2026, Christ the King College (CKC) gathered its fourth-year students from the Teacher Education Program (TEP), Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA), Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA), and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) for a send-off ceremony at the Mother Ignacia Gymnasium, marking their forthcoming deployment to their respective On-the-Job Training (OJT) assignments.
The day began with a Holy Mass at 8:00 am, attended by students, faculty, and staff from the Basic Education Department (BED) and Higher Education Department (HED). Presided over by Fr. Reynan Bongolto, SSJV, the Eucharistic celebration set a reflective tone for the occasion, grounding the students’ forthcoming experiences in faith and gratitude.
At 9:00 am, the send-off program commenced with a processional march of the fourth-year students, followed by the opening prayer, the Philippine National Anthem, and the CKC School Hymn.
Among the highlights was the message of S. Ma. Anecita C. Navaja, RVM, delivered by S. Ma. Elizabeth Ngewi on her behalf. Her words served as both encouragement and a reminder of the values that should accompany the students beyond the institution.
“Do not be afraid, you carried the heart of Marian Ignacian Values,” her message conveyed, encouraging the students to face the unfamiliar with confidence and remain grounded in the principles that shaped their formation.
The ceremony also featured the presentation of the OJT-bound students from the different academic programs, comprising 36 students from TEP, 20 from BSA, 18 from BSBA, and 25 from BSIT.
Dr. Labadan, Vice President for Academic Affairs, concluded the program with a story a bridge builder who asked his employer for one final project. Through the story, she drew a parallel between bridge-building and the professions the students are about to pursue.
Her message emphasized that professions are not merely about fulfilling responsibilities or completing assigned tasks. Like bridges, they connect people, create opportunities, and leave something meaningful for others. The story reminded the students that whatever career they choose, the work they do will eventually become part of a greater structure that extends beyond themselves.
As they prepare for their OJT deployment, the students are encouraged to approach every responsibility with commitment and excellence, recognizing that the foundations they establish today will shape the professionals they become tomorrow.
The classrooms may no longer be their immediate learning spaces, but the values formed within them remain. And as they venture into unfamiliar workplaces, one reminder stays with them:
